“MasterCard” continues its efforts related to cryptocurrencies, this time through a partnership with “Gemini”, which operates a cryptocurrency exchange, to provide an innovative credit card based on providing cryptocurrency rewards.
The new Gemini credit card already has more than 100,000 people on hold, and this card could see the light of day in the summer of 2021.
Credit card offering rewards in Bitcoin:
The cryptocurrency exchange Gemini, founded and managed by twin “Winklevoss”, announced its latest product earlier this morning.
Aside from including a MasterCard, Gemini has also entered into a partnership with the Utah Industrial Bank, WebBank.
Gemini announced some of the key features of the new credit card, which has already collected 140,000 people on the waiting list.
Among the announced features:
- 3% refund of purchases made in Bitcoin or some other digital currency listed on “Gemini”.
- Bonuses are automatically deposited as soon as transactions are made into the accounts of cardholders on the “Gemini” trading platform.
- Gemini also promised that the card would not come with an annual fee.
- 24/7 live customer support that delivers a superior cardholder experience.
The card will be available in three colors, as follows:
Black, Silver and Gold.
The card will not contain the 16-digit number, instead, it will be easily accessed via customer Gemini accounts and its use will require two-factor authentication.
Gemini CEO Tyler Winklevoss commented:
As more customers are looking to enter the crypto system, the Gemini credit card gives them an easy entry point and an easy way to earn cryptocurrency as a reward without changing their daily spending.
Upon launch, the card will be available in all fifty US states and will be accepted wherever MasterCard operates.
